Since their renovation in 2013, both Kentisbury Grange Hotel and onsite restaurant The Coach House by Michael Caines have continued to go from strength to strength.

 

Through our passion for customer service, the talent of our team and the support of our customers, the boutique hotel and restaurant have been awarded numerous accolades to date. We are proud to be one of the best luxury hotels in Devon and delighted to share with you the highlights of our journey so far:

April 2013

Local interior designer Karen Gray worked to elegantly refurbish Kentisbury Grange and The Coach House restaurant, being sympathetic to their Victorian heritage and understated grandeur.

September 2014

Celebrity Devonian Chef Michael Caines MBE joined forces with Kentisbury Grange, adding The Coach House to his restaurant collection.

October 2014

The Coach House was awarded Bronze for Best Restaurant in the North Devon Journal Food and Drink Awards 2014.

January 2015

Head Chef Thomas Hine joined the team following a successful career rising through the ranks at a number of highly acclaimed restaurants – including Gidleigh Park, The Bath Priory and Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant.

August 2015

We were awarded TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence for both Kentisbury Grange Hotel and The Coach House by Michael Caines.

February 2015

Official launch of The Coach House by Michael Caines – marked by an evening of fine dining that featured dishes by Head Chef Thomas Hine and Michael Caines himself.

November 2015

We were awarded Best Hotel Restaurant of the Year in the Devon Life Food and Drink Awards.

 

We also brought home Gold for both Small Hotel of the Year and Restaurant of the Year in the Devon Tourism Awards 2015.

February 2016

We were awarded Gold for both Small Hotel of the Year and Restaurant of the Year in the regional South West Tourism Awards 2016.

August 2016

We were awarded TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence for both Kentisbury Grange and The Coach House by Michael Caines for the second year running.

November 2016

We were announced as finalists for the second year running in the South West Tourism Awards 2017 – for Small Hotel of the Year and Restaurant of the Year.

 

We were awarded 1st place in the category of 4* hotels in the South West by Trivago.

March 2016

We were Highly Commended in the category of Small Hotel of the Year in the VisitEngland Awards 2016.

November 2016

We ranked top 10 for 4* hotels in the UK in the 2017 Trivago Awards.

 

We were also awarded Gold for Small Hotel of the Year and Restaurant of the Year in the Devon Tourism Awards 2016.

December 2016

We welcomed new Head Chef James Mason to the helm, South West Young Professional Chef of the Year 2015.

Previous Head Chef Thomas Hine was appointed Group Executive Chef by Michael Caines MBE.
